As a three year old, he won the Listed Fielden Stakes, displaying a fine blend of speed and courage.In his next start, PLACERVILLE overcame adverse circumstances of a fire in his float, to run a narrow second in the Thresher Classic Trial, Gr.3. In the Prix Jean Prat, Gr.1, he ran a gallant one and a half lengths fifth, in a field that included BIGSTONE.
